Problem Solving while Teaching and Staying at School

Actually I did not have a specifict or an urgent problem but for me it was challenging to face students in philippines. I taught English major in grade 7 at Ilocosur National High school. It was a common problem that faced in the grade 7 which is how to get their attention when they bored or sleepy. I always asked them a simple question related to our lesson. For example, “what did you get from this slide”, “who can help me to read this point”. These were the thing that I did for getting their attention.

Besides, I provided games and quizz for them to know their comprehension about the lesson. It was a group quizz and games. Unfortunately, I did not give them reward. For me, giving them reward can encourage them to participate in my lesson. Actually it was the strategy to get their attention.

Moreover, I had experience during my teaching practice in UNP Lab. I taught in grade 10. It was challenging when I explained the topic. At that time I was confused because I saw all of the students like did not get what I taught. Therefore, I chose to devide them it five group for discussing the topic that I explained. I suddenly wrote the the question that I would give to them. I only wrote three questions related to the lesson that I explained. Honestly, it was not the activity that I put in my lesson plan but I suddenly thought that activtity because I still had more time and my time for explaning had finished. That’s why I added some activity such as group discussion.

Those are the problems that I had already solved before. I always talked to myself like “do not be panic” it is the quotes that is able to help to look forward.
